Hunting Accident Claims Life of Young Girl
11-year-old girl was hunting with family members.
New reports from Georgetown, South Carolina, are talking about this tragic accident. Not much information was released at first about the accident that claimed the life of Anna Grace Cook. We now know a little more.
Anna Cook was hunting with her grandfather and uncle when somehow she was shot with her own gun. Initial reports said the family members were on ATVs at the time of the accident. That is now reported to be false. She somehow shot herself in the head. Poor girl.
The family was at the Mount Pleasant Plantation Hunting Club when something went horribly wrong. The group had shot multiple deer and were having a great day when the accident occurred. The case is still under investigation, so we couldn’t find much information about what happened. Her father, Wade Cook, said the fifth grader was always looking for an adventure.
We can’t imagine how bad the family must be feeling. We wish we knew what happened. Possibly the girl was not as knowledgable about guns as she should have been. Perhaps she was doing something unsupervised when she shouldn’t have been. It’s just a tragic reminder that kids do handle guns in hunting families and it’s up to us, their teachers and protectors, to do all we can to keep them safe.
