California Senator Contradicts Own Stance on Guns, Faced With Repercussions from Pro-Gun Activists

California senator's position on guns shows a double standard

Anti gun California lawmaker calls for armed guard

A well-known California senator’s anti-gun position may not be so strong after all. In yet another instance of a political figure ready to enlist the help of armed protection, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms has a suggestion.

Get a firearm.

The latest situation revolves around anti-gun California Senator Barbara Boxer, who found herself confronted by Bernie Sanders supporters recently. The boisterous supporters made Boxer “fear for her safety,” so she called on armed security.

PR Newswire reports that CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb had a thing or two to say about the California senator’s stance on guns. He noted that Boxer has “traditionally supported restrictive gun laws to keep people disarmed, so she should try buying a gun and find out firsthand what it’s like to be treated the same way as her constituents. She will discover that the laws she has favored are designed to keep average citizens unarmed and unable to defend themselves when they fear for their safety.”

The piece went on to say that longtime anti-gun supporters stood by as her Democratic colleagues put out every gun control measure they could come up with. Boxer is noted as being less restrictive on guns than Senator Dianne Feinstein.

Gottlieb thinks Senator Boxer should consider what happened at the Nevada State Democratic Convention as a “learning moment.” He doubts she gleans anything from that due to her “delusions about guns” and any change would cause her to have to “abandon her double standard about who should be protected.” Since not everyone has the “luxury of professional security around them,” Gottlieb points out that “Boxer’s hypocrisy should be remembered by her constituents.”

In other words, she has worked relentlessly to keep constituents “vulnerable to threats while she has benefitted from the security provided by people with guns.”

The CCRKBA chairman declares that Boxer should surrender her security detail, get her own gun for protection, or “keep her mouth shut” when it comes to placing gun restrictions on the general public. Her double standard position is growing old as far as Gottlieb is concerned, and her reaction to dealing with Bernie Sanders’ supporters was a clear picture of that.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms boasts 650,000 members and supporters across the United States. A non-profit organization, the CCRKBA is dedicated to preserving the Second Amendment through lobbying of elected officials and educating grassroots activists, the public, and the media. Its programs assist Americans in understand the importance of the Second Amendment and its role in keeping Americans free.

The CCRKBA also wants the Democratic National Committee to give up armed security when the Democratic National Convention takes place in Philadelphia on July 25-28. It believes that since so many political members of the party are anti-gun, they should set an example and insist unarmed security protect the presidential candidates as well as the venue.
