The guns include semiautos, machine guns, pistols, revolvers, shells and grenades. According to the BBC, the guns were seized in January as part of an operation against firearms trafficking which was taking place in Spain, France and Belgium. Investigators also found an illegal workshop with machinery to manipulate and reactivate weapons, near Bilbao. Five people were arrested, who had been reportedly been using a sports shop as a front to sell the weapons. Some of the weapons had been deactivated, but others did not comply with the deactivation standards. According to the article, reactivating deactivated weapons is one of Europe’s main sources of illegal guns.
Cash amounting to 80,000 euros ($85,000) was seized.
