Nobody Wants to See This Gun Control Movie
It's not even meeting low expectations.
Expectations were low for “Miss Sloane”, a new Hollywood movie starring Jessica Chastaine, who was also in the film “Zero Dark Thirty.”
In the movie Chastaine is the film’s leading lady. She plays Elizabeth, a top lawyer who leaves firm for a competitor when a powerful gun group (guess which gun group it’s supposed to be?) asks her to devise messaging to turn women against background checks for gun ownership. She becomes a lawyer who lobbies with all of her power for universal background checks for gun ownership.
The film was projected to earn $5 million on its opening weekend which is a low sum by Hollywood standards. Especially when the movie costs $13 million to make. It opened in select theaters on Thanksgiving weekend but then this past weekend it opened more widely. That time it earned only $1.9 million.
