Drunk On the Job Cop Loses His Gun and Badge

A photo is being passed around of a drunk cop in the Bronx, with his shirt pulled up over his substantial beer belly while obviously sleeping in the locker room.

The cop in question, Officer Richard Evans, seems to be passed out in the photo. According to the NY Post, “sources” said Evans was “unfit for duty” when he showed up for his midnight to 8 a.m. shift a few days ago.  A police official said he was clearly inebriated and was slurring his words.

The cop is 44 years old. According to the report, Evans and his partner were checking out a drunken dispute between neighbors. It was one of those drunken people who accused Evans of being drunk himself and took video of him. Takes one to know one, I guess?

After a complain was lodged against Evans, a sergeant responded to the scene and declared Evans unfit for duty. Evans was immediately suspended without pay. This particular cop earns $126,800 a year and was described as a problem drinker. It seems his coworkers all know about his problem but don’t know what to do about it. The photo of his large gut was taken last year, so obviously his drunkenness is not a new issue.
